What to wear and pack for a wine tour

Choose comfortable footwear and layers that fit the forecast and planned stops. Bring your booking details and any required identification, and ask about restaurant dress requirements or outdoor walking before the day.

Dress for the itinerary you booked

A seated tasting, vineyard walk and winery restaurant meal can involve different conditions. Read the itinerary and ask how much of the day is outdoors. If a restaurant has a dress requirement, confirm it directly through the operator or venue. Avoid buying special clothing simply because a tour is described as premium or private.

Choose footwear for the surfaces

Ask whether the route includes gravel, grass, slopes or cellar steps. Wear shoes you are comfortable walking and boarding the vehicle in. If those surfaces create a problem, discuss a different route before travel. A photograph of a paved entrance does not tell you the conditions at every stop.

Use the forecast close to departure

Check the destination’s current forecast, not only the weather where you are starting. Pack a useful layer and weather protection for the actual day. If the route includes outdoor time, ask how the company handles rain, heat or other disruptions. Seasonal photographs are inspiration, not a weather promise.

Keep the essentials easy to reach

Carry the confirmation, pickup instructions, company contact and identification requested by the operator or wineries. Ask about water and food arrangements. Bring only what you can comfortably keep with you or store as agreed. If you expect to buy bottles, check the vehicle’s storage arrangements and any onward carrier rules separately.

A short pre-departure check

Confirm the meeting point and return plan, charge your phone and share any last practical changes with the company. Keep strong fragrances modest so they do not dominate a tasting environment. Plan a driver who is not drinking for any journey after drop-off. There is no universal wine-tour outfit: comfort and the confirmed itinerary are the useful starting points.

Do winery tours have a dress code?

Some individual venues or restaurants may have requirements. Ask about the actual booked stops; do not assume one rule applies to every winery or every Canadian tour.

How we prepare and update our guides

Put your wine day together

Share your date, group size and pickup area. An enquiry starts the planning; it does not reserve seats or collect payment.
